Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment

HRDC is deeply committed to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment across Somalia.

Women and Child Protection:
As a women-led organization, HRDC works to end Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), child marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM), and other harmful practices. We provide legal aid, psychosocial counseling, and survivor support services, while advocating for policy and legal reforms to safeguard women and children.

Strategic Partnerships and Impact:

  • African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF): Empowering women and girls through economic initiatives, leadership development, and local governance participation.
  • Feminist Humanitarian Network (FHN): Preventing SGBV and promoting women’s rights through legal aid, psychosocial support, and livelihood empowerment programs.
  • GlobalGiving: Implementing education, healthcare, and livelihood programs for vulnerable women, children, and displaced families, including in IDP camps and conflict-affected areas.

HRDC’s programs have reached thousands of vulnerable individuals, strengthened community resilience, and promoted women’s leadership at all levels.
