WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE: PROMOTING GOOD PRACTICES
Lack of safe drinking water as well as poor sanitation and hygiene practices continue to impact the mortality and life expectancy of Somalia communities. This is true in both humanitarian camps as well as within communities.
At HRDC, we invest in hygiene programmes oriented towards supporting change and acceptance of good hygiene practices within the communities in rural areas. Our programs focus on creating awareness in basic hygiene practices, construction of safe sanitation facilities, community participation in cleaning campaigns in settlements and in the distribution of non-food items (NFIs) during disease outbreaks. We work with line ministries to strengthen and promote health care services.
